PINO 3000

With the PINO 3000, a strong yet elegant tri-country wine, we continue our Wein am Berg philosophy and therewith tickle even the most discerning of palates.

Together with the three top viniculturalists from the Austrian vineyard Paul Achs, the South Tyrolean St. Pauls winery and the German vineyard Dr. Heger, we created a

wine composition with strong character, which gets to mature in oak barrels by the peak of Gaislachkogl under extraordinary conditions. A ‘radiant ruby garnet‘, which embodies wine where the power of the mountains reaches its brilliant climax.

At more then 3,048 m above sea level, our PINO 3000 develops its full refinement.

From idea to completion

PINO 3000 - Hotel Das Central in Sölden - host Angelika Falkner, Martin Sperdin and Michael Waschl

For fifteen years, the five-star hotel Das Central in Austria has been inviting wine connoisseurs from across the world to the exclusive “Wein am Berg” event. “Wine makers, connoisseurs and journalists keep on confirming that wine tastes much better here above 3,000 m altitude,” says host Angelika Falkner. An idea has been developing for many years to allow a wine to mature in wooden casks at over 3,000 metres up in the Ötztal mountains. Three of the very best wine makers are involved in the lusty yet elegant composition PINO 3000.

The storing

The PINO 3000 – one of a kind in the world, highest exclusivity & unparalleled enjoyment. A wine with long storing potential. Two small Barrique barrels each of the best Pinot Noirs from the three wineries are combined in South Tyrol, and then embark on the journey to Sölden, into the purpose-built vault on the Gaislachkogl.

At 3,048 m above sea level at the ice Q in Sölden, the PINO 3000 matures in consistently cold temperatures, unaffected by the seasons. Thanks to the change in oxygen content and the low atmospheric pressure, significantly more fruitiness and freshness can develop.

Peter Moser from Falstaff rates the PINO 3000 with 93 out of 100 points, emphasising the “fresh structure, rich in finesse” as well as the ”reliable ageing potential”. Vinum Chief Editor about the PINO 3000: “On the tongue, the wine comes across as a textbook Pinot… With impressive elegance and drinkability.”
